Your Session
Intake: For your first session we will review your intake including goals, and wellness history. We will track our progress in subsequent sessions.
What We Do: Each session begins with a check in, followed by a series of assessments designed to highlight your pattern. Works happens at the massage table, Rolf bench, or standing, and involves contact, movement, and attention. Each session lasts approximately 75 minutes, plus or minus 10 minutes. Payment is due upon completion of session, unless prior payment has already been secured. If you like the work and sense its value, we rebook!
What to Wear: Biodyanmic Craniosacral Therapy only requires that you wear comfortable clothing.
Rolfing Structural Integration and manual therapy sessions on the other hand benefit from specialized attire. I rely on visual assessment, and direct contact to skin yields the most effective results for my clients. Furthermore you will often change position; some of the work takes place sitting upright. Movement in participation with the work and reassessment of our progress as we go makes semi-dress an important convenience as well. Though I can work with people fully clothed, what you wear will effect how we work together and what we accomplish. I provide a blanket for warmth, comfort, and modesty at every session.
– Men, please wear dark, opaque stretch underwear or running shorts for sessions (no boxers please).
– Women, if personal modesty allows, please wear dark, opaque underwear and bra/halter top, or similar two piece attire. Bearing in mind the above considerations, alternate options might include loose fitting or stretch shorts to wear over underwear, and if you prefer a loose fitting top. Sports bras are frequently pretty tight and cover such a large area on the back that they can interrupt work.
What NOT to Wear: It will also benefit you to avoid wearing oils or lotion on your skin, as it interferes with the work.
Post Session: You may not notice things right away, but your body will be changing. It’s important to respect this. Stay hydrated, and abstain from intense exercise for 24-36 hours if you can. I encourage you to take note of the changes you do experience during the day, as they can provide an important bridge between your old and new pattern. Your awareness and attention is an important piece of the work! Many people begin perceiving greater levels of subtly as the work progresses. Some clients report feeling sore the following day.
Sick Policy: If you’re feeling off, don’t let denial bring you into my office sick. Not only must I protect my clients, myself, and my family, but you’re going to need your energy to get the most out of these sessions. I ask that people get a full’s day of feeling recovered under their belts before resuming the work. No need to add stress to stress.
Cancelation Notice: I charge full price for appointments canceled in less than 24 hours. I can only see so many people in a day, and same day bookings are rare.
